Your API key will be embedded publicly, so restricting your Google Maps API key is of the utmost importance. We are directly quoting the instructions from this Google Cloud blog post.

Your API key can be restricted quickly. It needs to be done from the credentials tab of the APIs & Services page of the Google Cloud console.
